11 tips to lay down to reduce pains and discomfort

There are many reasons why we wake up in the middle of the night but the top one is pain. If we sleep in a position that does not support the body properly, it will create additional pressure that can increase the pain. Properly organized and supported will help you sleep better and reduce the number of times you wake up during the night.

We've rounded up 11 tips for adjusting your sleeping position for better support and less nighttime pain:

1. Sleep on your side: It is recommended to sleep on a pillow that is high enough to raise your head in line with your neck and spine. And to reduce the pressure on the lower shoulders, pillows may be placed under the body, leaving space for armrests.

----------

2. Lie on your back: Do not sleep on a pillow that is too high to avoid facing down. Place a pillow under the crook of your knee to keep your lower back in a comfortable position.

----------

3. Lie down on your stomach: This position is generally not recommended as it can cause back pain. But sometimes may be necessary for some patients. Some advice is to use a thin pillow under the head or not at all, place a pillow of low height under the stomach or pelvis, bend one knee to the side and insert the pillow under the knee.

----------

4. For people with back pain: To help relieve back pain, follow the tips #1 or #2.

----------

5. For people who like to sleep on recliner: Sleeping on this type of chair can help relieve back pain. Because it will help distribute the pressure on the back, so that the back will not be too burdened, relax.

----------

6. For people with intervertebral disc problems: should lie on your side and bend over. Bring your knees toward your chest. Switch sides occasionally to prevent imbalance. Sleeping in this position will help open the space between the spine.

----------

7. For general neck pain: A good sleeping position for neck pain sufferers is lying on the side and on your back because the position of the neck and spine are aligned. Use a pillow of the correct height and follow the tips #1 or #2.

----------

8. For general hip pain: Lie on your side on the pain-free side and bend your knees. and comply with the tip #1

----------

9. For general knee pain: To relieve knee pain, lie on your side or on your back. As instructed in tips #1 or #2, keep your knees in a comfortable position with a slight bend.

----------

10. For general shoulder pain: To relieve shoulder pain, lie on your back and use a small pillow under the sore shoulder.

----------

11. For people suffering from heartburn and acid reflux: To relieve the discomfort of heartburn or acid reflux, lie on your left side with the head of the bed elevated or on a recliner. Avoid adding a high pillow under the head as it will cause the body to bend, increased abdominal pressure and increased acid reflux.
